Van Derbeken, Jaxon (October 23, 2009). " 'Night Stalker' tied to slaying of S.F. girl". San Francisco Chronicle. San Francisco, California: Hearst Corporation. Archived from the original on April 28, 2014 . Retrieved September 22, 2018. Montaldo, Charles. "The End of the Night Stalker – Richard Ramirez". About.com. New York City: The New York Times Company. Archived from the original on January 10, 2012 . Retrieved May 21, 2012. The first half of the book is great, following the 13 murders and couple of near fatal rape-assaults of Richard Ramirez in LA in 1984-1985. Though some might find him a more dynamic or interesting serial killer because of his allegiance to Satan; I find him more boring and more of a coward than most psychopath serial killers. The author Carlo pushes his oxymoronic subtle sermons (views/themes) all too often and almost seems to make excuses for how Ramirez came about. Richard hit his head and had epileptic fits when he was a boy. The government tested atomic bombs in New Mexico and the fallout effected all their children, some physical, maybe some mental. Richard witnessed a murder at 12. His dad yelled at him and had rage. His brothers were a bad influence. In fact, the only avenue in which Carlo doesn't exploit is Ramirez possibly being possessed (because I'm sure he doesn't himself believe in Heaven or Hell), which is surprising because of all the sensational roots to a serial killer demonic possession has the most appeal. Also, it wouldn't be far fetched because Richard believed Satan would protect him, drew pentagrams at some of the scenes of the crime, and made the victims he raped and murdered continuously swear to Satan as opposed to God. The Night Stalker: A Decade of Correspondence Letters From The Night Stalker: A Decade of Correspondence

Here's a good one - a real live human being said this by the way - Tamara has an altar to Richard in her bedroom. She supposedly sleeps in a coffin and has had her canine teeth filed into points. As if that's not enough I'll go on. On July 5, 1985, Ramirez broke into a home in Sierra Madre and bludgeoned 16-year-old Whitney Bennett with a tire iron as she slept in her bedroom. After searching in vain for a knife in the kitchen, Ramirez tried to strangle the girl with a telephone cord. [63] He stated that he was startled to see electrical sparks emanate from the cord, and when his victim began to breathe, he fled the house believing that Jesus Christ had intervened and saved her. [64] Bennett survived the savage beating and attempted strangulation, although 478 stitches were required to close the lacerations to her scalp. [65] I think I was more surprised that he was STILL alive after being sentenced to death, than the letters actually. Because he was so famous, and most famous serial killers were already dead by the time I found out about them. So it was like a weird timeline crossover experience, if that makes sense.Guest stars: John Dehner, Hans Conried, Robert Emhardt, Jeff Donnell, Sidney Clute, Shug Fisher, Lieux Dressler, Gregg Palmer and Bryan O'Byrne. a b Freed, David (September 5, 1985). "Night Stalker Suspect Tied to '84 Killing: Fingerprint on Screen Where Glassell Park Woman, 79, Was Slain". Los Angeles Times. Los Angeles, California. Archived from the original on October 3, 2019 . Retrieved September 22, 2018. A very comprehensive and compelling account of the Night Stalker Richard Ramirez who terrorised LA for years and murdered 13 people in the process. Doreen, the trashy, piece of shit broad who married Ramirez, the one who actually touched this mans hands, the same hands that did these awful, awful, awful things, said this, "There's something in his eyes - like a little boy who needs help. He's so sexy." Lioy reportedly severed her relationship with Ramirez in 2009 when a DNA sample connected him to the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl in San Francisco on April 10, 1984. There is no official record of divorce. The couple had no children, and Ramirez is not known to have fathered any children during his lifetime.

As a 12-year-old, Richard, or "Richie" as he was known to his family, was strongly influenced by his older cousin, Miguel "Mike" Ramirez, [12] a decorated Green Beret combat veteran who himself had already become a serial killer and a rapist during his time in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Mike often boasted of his brutal war crimes, and shared Polaroid photos with Richard showing Vietnamese women whom he had raped, murdered, and dismembered or decapitated. [13] [14] Richard would later state while incarcerated that he was fascinated, rather than repulsed, by the images and stories Mike shared with him. Mike taught his young cousin some of his military skills, such as killing with stealth and effectively staying hidden in the dark, especially at night. [15] Around this time, Richard began to seek escape from his father's violent temper by sleeping in a local cemetery. [15] A politician ( Tom Skerritt) on a meteoric rise murders his opposition through a pact with Satan which gives him the ability to turn into an invulnerable dog. Night Stalker: The Hunt For a Serial Killer is a 2021 documentary released by Netflix featuring first-person interviews, archival footage, newly shot reenactments, and original photography related to the case. [140] A witch (played by Dark Shadows " Angélique", Lara Parker) desires to control the world of high fashion. Kolchak: The Night Stalker is an American television series that aired on ABC during the 1974–1975 season. The series followed wire service reporter Carl Kolchak ( Darren McGavin) who investigates mysterious crimes with unlikely causes, particularly those involving the supernatural or science fiction, including fantastic creatures. The series was preceded by the two television movies, The Night Stalker (1972) and The Night Strangler (1973). Although the series lasted only a single season, it rapidly achieved cult status and has remained very popular in syndication. [ citation needed]

Everything is very detailed, Richard's life pre crimes and that of his family (which wasn't a very normal family, mind you), then his crimes, arrest and trial. I don't remember reading anything this in-depth about him before, so it was all interesting. I am slightly baffled about why lots of women found him attractive, one of the jurors on his trial fell in love with him and he got married to 'another fan' if you can call them that!!!! By the time of the trial, Ramirez had fans who were writing him letters and paying him visits. [130] Beginning in 1985, Doreen Lioy [131] wrote him nearly seventy-five letters during his incarceration. In 1988, Ramirez proposed to Lioy, and on October 3, 1996, they were married in California's San Quentin State Prison. [132] For many years before Ramirez's death, Lioy stated that she would commit suicide when Ramirez was executed. However, Lioy eventually broke ties with Ramirez in 2009 after DNA confirmed he had raped and murdered 9-year-old Mei Leung. [133] By the time of his death in 2013, Ramirez was engaged to a 23-year-old writer. Feldman, Paul (May 9, 1986). " 'Enjoyed Killing People,' Ramirez Allegedly Said". Los Angeles Times . Retrieved August 1, 2022. Accused Night Stalker Richard Ramirez boasted to a jailer that he was a "super-criminal" who killed 20 people in California and enjoyed watching them die, according to newly unsealed testimony from Ramirez's preliminary hearing. Ramirez’s actions on his final night of terror—August 24, 1985, in the Los Angeles area—soon led to his capture. First, he was spotted outside a Mission Viejo home, where he unwittingly left a footprint, before the witness took note of his car and license plate. Later, after Ramirez raped another woman at her home (and shot her fiancé), the victim provided a detailed description of her assailant, who had forced her to swear her love for Satan.
