About this deal

Another worthwhile mention if you want to get TV as close to the wall as you can is the Samsung Frame TV. The design of the TV is so that it looks like a picture Frame, in fact when on standby the TV can show a picture so it look’s like an ordinary picture, but the one of the good things about it an the reason for including it in this blog is that the TV comes with it’s own mount which literally only sits a few millimetres away from the wall. Also these come with a One Connect connection making them the perfect choice for slimline TV wall mounts.

If your TV isn’t VESA-compatible, which is extremely rare, you may need to buy a proprietary mount from the company that made your TV. If you do have children (or if you’re just slightly clumsy) having the TV on the wall is safer as the set can’t be toppled over and cause an injury. Tilt These mounts let you angle the screen a few degrees up or down. This is useful if the TV is going to be high on the wall and you want to angle the screen down towards the viewer. The other option requires a bit more DIY, but it's useful if you have a lot of cables or you don't like the look of trunking. Make a hole behind where the TV will be mounted and thread all cables through it. Make another below it and pull the cables through. You can neaten the holes you've made with cheap a plastic fitting. If you plan to do this, cut your holes to the right size for the fittings.

On the listing for a TV online or in store, you'll see measurements for a VESA mount, and this is a sure sign you can attach a wall mount. What is VESA? The thought of drilling holes in your wall is not a happy one, but unfortunately, unless you use a gallon of no more nails and glue your TV to the wall (not recommended) you're going to need a drill. The problem is with installing fused spur units for TV’s is that the mains plug needs to be cut away from the TV lead. This isn’t a problem if your TV comes with a detachable mains lead but if your TV comes with a moulded lead, you will need to cut this away to be cable to connect it to the fused spur. This could void the warranty on your TV so it’s up to you if you think this is worth the risk. If you do choose to cable your TV into a fused spur it’s important that this is done by someone electrically competent and that the correct rated fuse is installed into the spur to protect the cable and TV. Most fused spurs come with a 13 amp fuse inside which is quite a lot for most new TV’s. I recommend removing the fuse from the TV plug and inserting this into the fused spur. Most new TV’s have this in the mind and will have the cables leaving the TV parallel at the rear so that it doesn’t matter about the bend radius of the cables. Notable Mentions

that violates any law, statute, ordinance or regulation (including, but not limited to, those governing export control, consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination or false advertising); Get a measuring tape: you’ll need to make a note of some numbers. Firstly, measure your TV in width, height, depth, screen size and VESA sixes. Take a look at our how to measure a TV screen explainer to find out more.

Tilting mount: These mounts allow you to angle the TV to better suit your environment. If you have to mount your screen higher than you might like (more on that in a minute), then you can adjust it to suit viewing from a lower position. Also, if reflections are an issue, you can simply tilt the TV away from them. Tape measure You'll need one of these to make sure the holes are the right distance apart and to measure how high you want the TV to be on the wall. Because the engineers didn’t get there first, The Frame is a good TV rather than a great one. Its images aren’t the brightest around, and its colour-balance isn’t the most natural you’ve ever seen. But it’s nevertheless good to watch, with plenty of detail in its images and nice, stable motion-handling. In Tizen it has one of the better operating systems. But, most of all, it’s the only screen here that genuinely looks good when it’s switched off.
