About this deal

Adjusting the aggressiveness is not difficult. There is a dial on the handle at the top. Hold the head gently and turn the handle. Merkur Futur Review Summary

The Model T very much resembles the classic adjustable safety razors of the 1960s like the Gillette Fatboy and Slim. With six aggressiveness settings, ranging from moderate to aggressive ( or roughly 1.12mm to 1.65mm), the Merkur Futur offers a wide range of options to suit different preferences and skin types. From the way you load the blade down to the aesthetics – the beautiful smooth finish, the long and wide handle screams machismo. A notable downside to the Futur is the bulky head. In our analysis, users consistently complained about this aspect of the razor. At 128 grams the Merkur Futur is reassuringly heavy. In fact it’s basically the heaviest safety razor Merkur make. The only exception is the Merkur 43c at 149g that has a standard head with a stainless steel handle which doesn’t really count. I find the new version to be very mild in low settings, in fact you can’t cut anything in settings 0.5-1 even if you press hard. I find it OK in settings 3-4, so I am always surprised when some people say that it is aggressive (I like mild razors), but that may refer to the first revision. It’s the sort of brand that’s made it big by targeting different sorts of shavers. There’s a model that most wet shaving beginners start with ( The Merkur 34c) and then there are many others that many upgrade to, such as the slant razors that Merkur makes or the adjustable safety razors such as the one reviewed today. But a lesser known design is likely to steal the spotlight from most models – The Merkur Futur.

For comparison, the Merkur 34C has a blade gap of .71mm, which is roughly 44.8% smaller than the mildest setting of the Futur. Control of aggressiveness is the number one argument for the Merkur Futur razor. It is an adjustable razor, with six different settings, that allow you to control how strong of a shave you want. You have to be careful when adjusting the settings – avoid doing it with a wet hand, or you will cut yourself There are two models of adjustable Merkur razors, the second one being the 500 Merkur Progre ss Adju stable, which is about one ounce lighter and an inch shorter than the Merkur Futur. If you've got small hands but still want in on Merkur quality, this is a great bet. Note the Merkur Progress 500 also comes in a slightly longer and heavier version, still sprier than the Futur, but with more heft than the standard 500 model. The Merkur Futur is a great adjustable safety razor, one of the best safety razors ever made. It set the standard for adjustable double edge safety razors and still lives up to its reputation.Let’s weigh the quality in the eyes of an experienced razor user and beginner. An experienced user will absolutely adore the quality offered by this razor. Why? Because it has an ergonomic design, sturdy grip, and provides a close shave.
