About this deal

Overall? Excellent transfer. You could say it's amazing with warts and all. As I said, I love its personality. Most reviewers I think will review this from a source perspective which is imperfect. It's rough around the edges. I'm reviewing it from the transfer perspective, and it's great. It's a job well done by Paramount. The HDR grading is excellently done, it makes a huge difference to have perfectly color-graded content. This is something the VHS, the LaserDisc, DVD, and Blu-ray simply cannot produce. within the diner, even the warmly bathed low light shots in the bar where Marsellus meets with Butch -- look very prominent, healthy, and appealing. Not the Usual Mindless Boring Getting to Know You Chit Chat (43 minutes): This is an extra that was created for the 2011 Blu-ray. It features Tarantino and the cast reuniting to discuss the film and its legacy.

Though this might have been ripe for a new Dolby Atmos mix, Paramount has taken the same DTS HD Master Audio from the Blu-ray. Dialogue, which is a staple of Tarantino’s films, sounds crisp and rich. Trust me, there’s no better way to hear Jules’“preaching” than in pure, uncompressed sound. The surrounds also came into play much more than I expected. Little things like a motorcycle starting up or a crowd of people talking (when Butch hits Marcellus with his car). If those opening credits don’t get your heart rate into triple digits, I’m guessing nothing will. Supplements: What are the extras? Here are Some Facts on the Fiction– We’re joined by five film critics that no one has heard of. Still, there’s actually one of them who’s not a fan of the film and it’s a nice change of pace instead of another Tarantino praise-fest. The reason why I wanted to explain a little about the quality of the source material is that I think it's very important to how I and others review this movie. Likewise, I want to give others an idea of where I'm going with this thought. I'll list a few things that I noticed from the quality of the actual source. MOVIE THOUGHTS: Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece? I think so. What a great movie. I love it and a great addition to my 4K collection. Pulp Fiction (1994) by Quentin Tarantino is finally here on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray! It's released by Paramount, who aren't exactly on my best list right now. So, how does it look? Any good? Big upgrade? Let's take a look.amplified brightness while still maintaining effortless depth and stability. Whites are pushed harder to present with a more realistic intensity and With this movie, though, which is its first spin in 4K, the picture quality is immaculate. Having been restored for this release, Pulp Fiction offers vivid colors and sharp details, both of which are important for a movie meant to evoke the lurid dime store novels of decades past. My understanding, though, is that the included Blu-ray doesn’t use the same remaster. There’s also a code for a digital copy. The transfer is gorgeous. The movie has never looked this good ever on home video. I remember watching this on Laserdisc, I can still remember how it looks to this day. This 4K transfer is absolutely excellent! At no point does the film grain break up into digital noise. That's my biggest thing. Sure, we have analog artifacts from the camera, but please...I don't want the image to look digital. Thankfully, it doesn't. It looks like film. It looks analog, and that's a thing of beauty. When movies are bought to 4K Blu-ray, this is what I want. Minimal digital work done and allow this great format to capture that. We have that here with this transfer. Writer-director Quentin Tarantino delivers an unforgettable cast of characters— including a pair of low-rent hit men (John Travolta and Samuel L.

Any Quentin Tarantino movie in 4k is a must for most cinephiles, and Pulp Fiction on 4k Blu-ray is right at the top of the list. As alluded to earlier, watching Pulp Fiction in 4k with HDR is like experiencing the film for the first time. If you’ve got a home theater and projection environment the quality is probably as good, if not better than you could experience in theaters. Pulp Fiction may not provide the best sound experience from beginning to end (at least in our opinion), but the visuals kind of supersede any flaws in audio. This is a must 4k disc for any home theater enthusiast. Scores material promised a new transfer on the Blu-ray, what is included appears to be identical to the 2011 Cannes Film Festival – Palme D’Or Acceptance Speech(5 minutes): Unsurprisingly, Pulp Fiction made a huge splash at Cannes, and this is Tarantino’s acceptance speech for winning the grand prize during that year’s festival. Siskel & Ebert At the Movies: The Tarantino Generation– This segment focuses on the film at hand, obviously garnering praise from the two critics. Pulp Fiction makes its debut on 4K Ultra HD and it’s a must-buy for fans of the film. It looks and sounds fantastic, and Paramount tossed in a Blu-ray (unfortunately, it doesn’t feature the same newly remastered transfer), a digital code, and a big ol’ batch of bonus features from previous editions.

Plot: What’s it about? Video: How does it look? Audio: How does it sound? Supplements: What are the extras? The Bottom Line Plot: What’s it about? Paramount Home Media releases Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (1994) on 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray on Dec. 6, 2022. The upgraded film is available in both a standard plastic edition and Limited Edition SteelBook, each with a second copy on 1080p Blu-ray and a code to redeem a Digital Copy. Each disc contains legacy special features, but the Blu-ray houses much more bonus content than the 4k Blu-ray. remembered as the most gorgeous UHD in existence, but what the picture does do is offer a healthy and naturally occurring image that offers a solid Charlie Rose Show(55.5 minutes): It’s a shame Rose proved himself to be another man who couldn’t behave himself around women, because he always conducted great, in-depth interviews. Here’s one of those with Tarantino. right, but when looking at the grading directly compared to the old Blu-ray, the improvements are substantial.

exteriors like. The film is not abundantly brilliant and superfluously colorful, but tones throughout -- whether clothes, natural greens, the colorsThere's camera ringing, and at times it's quite heavy. There's perspective distortion and lens distortion. Edges of shots curve. I think this is due to the lenses used, but if that's incorrect, please let me know in the comments. Also, with the camera ringing, there's also color bleeding. Film grain is light and very consistent apart from one scene. Deleted Scenes– Next up are some deleted scenes, five in all, hosted by the man himself. Quentin is very sure of himself, dissing the “Director’s Cuts” that are out there and telling us, quite frankly, that he made the movie he wanted to make the first time. Why am I pointing out source errors and inconsistencies first and not the transfer? I just used the word error. Now, depending on your perspective, you may not think that these are errors. This is really the charm of film. Much like film grain, yes, it's an artifact of film, but so is everything that I listed above. So, it depends on how you personally feel about these film artifacts. I'll talk a little more about this later because I want to talk about the actual transfer itself. What is the use of a desktop wallpaper? Well, adding a wallpaper to your desktop is not mandatory. In fact, you can decide to use a dark colour, and life will move on as usual. However, this element comes with a sense of beauty. They add glamor to your computer and make it look aesthetically appealing and highly presentable. Sometimes, people display their feelings through the use of desktop wallpapers. Interesting, huh? You can add an image that shows how you feel or one that means something to you. Adding a quote will act as a reminder of what inspires you in your day-to-day life. That said, desktop wallpapers cannot be ignored, they mean different things to different people.

format. Grain is present and very light: unobtrusive but flattering and filmic. The picture is also free of obvious encode flaws and print problems. Pulp Fiction has personality, and it's because of its film errors and film artifacts. Reservoir Dogs honestly doesn't have this. Sure, Reservoir Dogs is a cleaner-looking movie, but it doesn't have the personality that Pulp Fiction has. I'm not talking about the movie itself, this is all coming from the cameras themselves. I love both looks personally, and I like any format that is able to capture this process. What hit us was not only the unique way Tarantino wrote dialogue but also the narrative structure he had crafted, in which the story didn’t unspool in a linear way. Sure, he wasn’t the first person to do either of those things in film, but he did so at a time when conventional narratives were the norm at multiplexes.

Deleted Scenes(24.5 minutes): This is a group of five excised scenes with introductions by Tarantino, who dismisses any talk of a Director’s Cut that reinstates the footage. Considering the clout he developed a long time ago, I’m sure he could have released such a version if he wanted to, so fans should respect his wishes. That said, there’s some interesting footage to be found here.
