About this deal

When the Yakuza betrays him and he's killed by the Zombie Devil, Pochita sacrifices himself to save his former master. Whatever character we got for Denji at the start seemed to devolve into a person a lot less interesting and savory, especially since I believe he is supposed to be around sixteen. This is a mostly spoiler-free (there are some context-less images) review of the entire first part of Chainsaw Man (volumes 1-11). The story itself is so captivating, It really gets me in my feelings everytime, I really love Denji and Pochita so much!

An anime adaptation by studio MAPPA adapted the first part of the series up to the Katana Man arc in its first season. The last is the most coherent to me, but they all seem to suffer a similar problem - they are rushed, have twists to have twists, and the first two seem to bask in shock value and fetishes to draw people in because these things exist. Making a blood-pact with a chainsaw demon dog that allows him to transform into a weapon of mass destruction doesn’t exactly make Denji’s life any more easy or normal either. It's just a shame it was all over so fast and we got into the weirdly fetishized plot as it blindly rushed forward and gave us less and less.

Denji’s a poor young man who’ll do anything for money, even hunting down devils with his pet devil Pochita. I'm not sure if I'll individually rate the rest of the manga in this collection on GR and rate each instead in a wrap up video but we'll see. I've heard of this manga series a good few times by Joey (The Anime Man) and also, people who like No Guns Life. It was a little bit of a process learning how to read the thing but after that I found myself laughing at this harder than I've laughed at anything in a while.

months ago, manga readers around the world had to say goodbye to one of the best series out there…Tatsuki Fujimoto’s iconic Chainsaw Man. He’s very good at an “I can fix her”: from nasty freaks, to sad losers with snot constantly running down their face, to Most Evil Person Alive, to lesbian hitman with demon harem. At first it was a pretty good start because we got to explore hpw our main character, Denji got around to being a chainsaw dude in the first place. I mean , this manga isn't THAT terrible but I think the boob jokes were rather childish and pretty much boring.Side note: I watched the first two episodes of the CSM anime, and I like feel the adaptation definitely flubs what makes the manga so funny and weird. And there were a few good ideas that would be interesting - such as the type of world that caused these devils to be a threat, to begin with - if I thought it was something that would have a satisfying answer. Female characters don't have to be perfect or damsels, but at least have a decent rep of other female characters before you choose to do this with one of the only female characters you have.

Chainsaw Man Part 1 consists of 97 chapters, compiled into eleven volumes of the Jump Comics trade paperbacks.

If you've already watched the anime, the first volume here is virtually identical sans a few minor styling choices and seems to cover episodes 1-3 (well, up to 3/4s of the third episode). From the very first page, readers are pulled into a world filled with demons, devil hunters, and a unique protagonist named Denji, who is bound to a devil named Pochita in a truly unconventional way. It isn't sexy or cute) and who, for some reason, even though he's lived the great majority of his life in poverty and alone with only his pet demon dog for company, manages to (almost perfectly) integrate into normal society and a full-time job with little pushback. Leading directly to "Chapter 5: A Way to Touch Some Boobs," with the complaint, "I'd do anything to touch some boobs though," and the offer, "What if I said I'd let you touch my chest . Tatsuki Fujimoto 藤本タツキ (Fujimoto Tatsuki) is a Japanese manga author, mostly known for Chainsaw Man.
