The film, shot in 1980, comprised performance footage of Madness, The Specials, The Selecter, The Bodysnatchers, the Beat and Bad Manners on tour throughout the United Kingdom.

The Specials kept a low profile on the album but it did finally see Bad Manners appear on 2 Tone, given the band had previously turned down an offer to sign. There is another film that did that same thing; it captured the 2 Tone Dance Craze coming out of the UK: the film was simply titled, “Dance Craze.Only The Specials and Rico remained as recording artists on the label and at the time the film and its soundtrack were released The Bodysnatchers had split only for some of them to reappear at a later date as The Belle Stars. The film now features remastered originalstereo and surroundmixes by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, as well as a new Dolby Atmos Mix. Having just recently got the blu-ray, which is amazing, I have a question regarding the associated vinyl/cd release of the soundtrack. A soundtrack album of the same name was released the same year, featuring 15 of the songs that were featured in the film. CHR TTF 5004 appears on the slipcase, the gatefold sleeve of the Film Soundtrack and the labels of all 6 sides of the LPs. tracks on the original soundtrack album (Disc 3) are from the same concerts as Discs 1 and 2 but transferred from different masters.

His full length debut on Daptone Records is equal parts raw feeling and elegance and exudes confidence and charm. i would say my original has slightly more clarity but i guess that's normal and as I played it to death I wanted a copy that is clean sounding. and 3LP deluxe editions feature a previously unreleased 27-track film soundtrack which offers different mixes of many of the songs (and in the cases of The Selecter and Bad Manners, recordings from different concerts).Directed by Joe Massot (responsible for the Led Zeppelin concert film The Song Remains The Same) Dance Craze was originally released at a selection of cinemas across the UK, US and Australia and there was an album release at the same time (on cassette and vinyl). While mammoth memory-laners like 'Night Boat To Cairo' do feature here, there are also many lesser-spotted gems, such as Bad Manners' organ-scraping 'Inner London Violence' and 'Ranking Full Stop', a quadruple-time highlight from The English Beat.
