About this deal

It’s impressive just how much of Matt Murdock’s beginnings are captured in that one issue, as well as the number of Daredevil foes we quickly see introduced in those first 11 issues (The Owl!

Granted, I was already a big fan of Daredevil, but still found something to like in almost every arc. As he works on the story he discovers many things, including that Frog was an abusive and violent parent. This series collects various comics across the Marvel Universe, and it all leads up to the main event. After the all-serious, pretty ‘mature’ take we got from Bendis, Brubaker and co, Waid’s Daredevil feels like a breath of fresh air.It was a best-selling run, as he brought Colossus back to life, and had Emma Frost, Cyclops, Wolverine, Kitty, and Beast lead the way for this X-Men roster. Maybe Waid had an idea, but if so it never made its way into the story, so you just have to look the other way. If Daredevil in the MCU is now going to be less gritty and dark than his appearances on the Netflix shows were, Waid's run here is Disney's best source material to rely upon for a fun, yet still mature Daredevil.

Snappy and revealing, this is definitely the best writing I've seen by Bendis and his character work is probably the strongest part of this whole thing. It doesn't seem to have the same reputation as Waid or Bendis or Brubaker (let's not even mention Miller, whose work in the 80s defines the book). The Marvel omnibus has Hawkeye living with his dog and finding himself pushed into battle while dealing with his hearing loss. You have a more relaxed and jokey version or Matt Murdock, which is a different take from the usual dark tone of the character, but I think it works really well, specially when he has relapses and falls into depressive episodes, something realistic and portrayed with the respect it deserves.Samnee,Martin and Rivera's art are fantastic on this run and the quality never dips or feels jarring between artists. I can't wait to get the next Omnibus of Waid's work as this o my contains the first half of his writing of the character. for all of the potential that exists from the jump conceptually speaking, stan lee's writing limits the first 42 issues of daredevil to a low rent spider-man morph.
