About this deal

This particular volume focuses on one of my favorite races in the game, the Hive, as well as details about exotic weapons like The Last Word.

Nightmares that turned into horrors on planets that weren't my own that turned into more nightmares. Eramis and the rest were a disease, but she was nothing compared to the plague of corrupted Guardians. Because this is a review copy, however, the book was supplied as a PDF file, so I’ve had to read it on my laptop screen.

Yet more interesting insights into the Destiny universe, accompanied by beautiful, evocative drawings.

Written really well: not in a novel style-of course not-but written in digestible chunks that give you so much information yet leave you hanging. The binding (if you bought this in anything other than leatherbound you are no true Guardian of the Light) is stunning-though it can be a little cumbersome to hold when reading-and the illustrations are quite something: they add the atosphere and flavour that the game provides but in smaller, digestible chunks. Probably better done on fan site the Ishtar Collective, but the release is a nice faux leather collection of lore from the games. Also, the last thing I want is my girlfriend walking in on me lit only by the light of a 1440p gaming monitor as I'm giving myself permanent eye damage trying to read about the excesses of the Golden Age of the Traveler. Reading it is like piecing together the meaning of primary sources, without having read the history book's interpretation: it's up to the readers to draw their own conclusions.

It comes with many twists and turns too, including how Oryx came to find out that as long as he had a throne in the ascendant realm, he was effectively immortal, and this is where the basis of the whole King’s Fall raid came from.

Kinda undermines efforts for more inclusive language when you use them in ways that deliberately makes them sound silly.

Playing through the expansion, as you continue beyond Beyond Light, even Clovis Bray himself puts in an appearance as a disembodied giant head, sending you off on missions. Then we get to see a little bit of the aftermath of the gunmans's plot before the book ends by also telling us of what became of the Hive God. The illustrations are very well done in chromatic, which suits the aesthetics of the pages they are found in. But reading off a screen is not for me and having to find each individual pieces is also not for me. The offer runs through Friday June 23, and the grimoires come in an ePUB format that should be compatible with most phones, tablets, and ereaders. It's written in the manner of lost/fragmented religious text with occasional intercepted transmissions. The next few sections give tales on Guardians messing with the Darkness (kind of ominous giving Beyond Light's story) and chatter surrounding these Guardians. In large part this is Cayde’s story, but seeing the origin of the Exos also ensures enjoyment, especially in the way the lore has been put together. All in all, a good book for a Destiny fan and I'm looking forward to reading Volume II in the future. Anyhow, Bungie sat down and put together the text story entries from the game in a series of these "grimoire" books that also come with some nice art from the art team.
