About this deal

Six new episodes with companions Maureen O’Brien, Peter Purves, Carole Ann Ford, Janet Fielding (Tegan), Wendy Padbury (Zoe), Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Bonnie Langford (Melanie) and Sophie Aldred (Ace). Season 2 is the biggest release yet – a limited edition nine disc box set from the early years of the programme, which sees William Hartnell’s First Doctor take centre-stage. Episodes released on Blu-ray starting with " Planet of the Dead" were shot in full 1080p High Definition and have been released with DTS-HD High Resolution 5.

While they successfully approximated the look and feel of furry butterflies, with gossamer wings for the Menoptera, and even the menacing, hard shelled ant appearance of the Zarbi, the end result for the Optera was more like a school play, with lots and lots of felt, but I sympathise.RARE GEMS FROM THE ARCHIVES - Hours of footage covering the promotion of this season including lots of previously unreleased material. The Collection - Season 8 (BBCBD0564) and Season 24 (BBCBD0520) were re-released in 2022 and 2023 respectively, with standard Blu-ray cases. As with the UK releases, disc replacements were made available for seasons 12 and 18, and reissues included the replacement discs. The Doctor even takes advantage of a case of mistaken identity and parlays it into an audience with Caesar Nero himself.

A very Twilight Zone feel to it, with the crew trying to change their own future to prevent becoming exhibits in the titular location. But it was so enjoyable to experience the downtime and interpersonal relationships of the TARDIS crew. For cinema release, this was converted to 24p (24 frames per eye) using the same slowdown method used for US releases. BRAND NEW DOCUMENTARIES - Including a feature-length overview of Season 24 - Here’s To The Future, plus The Making Of Delta And The Bannermen. For the UK broadcast, the US broadcast master was "reverse telecined" back to 24p, before being converted to 576i PAL, and sped up to playback at 25p.

Where serials have been entirely or partially recreated through animation, such as The Power of the Daleks (entire serial missing) and the 2017 reconstruction of Shada (the unshot studio scenes), the animation has been rendered at 1080p. The big point of contention here is that with all of season two naturally intact except for only two episodes, The Knight of Jaffa and The Warlords, you’d think the BBC would have gone to the trouble of animating those two eps. The circumstances under which the Doctor leaves his granddaughter behind creates one of the most poignant endings for a companion ever.

The Doctor Who logo has been shown at differing sizes and occasionally with an irregular dropshadow effect, and the back cover text is seldom uniform.

The Underwater Menace should have been animated in the first place, but seemed to fall foul of circumstances. Joining them in their adventures are the UNIT team of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (Nicholas Courtney), Captain Yates (Richard Franklin) and Sergeant Benton (John Levene).Bundles the seven "Complete Series/Specials" sets and a exclusive bonus disc featuring three BBC America specials. In the UK, the initial Collector's Edition releases of each Collection set would sell out almost immediately, resulting in a high resale value. However, third series story The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith is included as part of The Complete David Tennant Collection.
