About this deal

During the Gulf War he commanded Bravo Two Zero, a patrol that, in the words of his commanding officer, 'will remain in regimental history for ever'. From the bestselling author of Bravo Two Zero, Andy McNab, comes an explosive new thriller that is so close to home, it will leave you wondering what is fact and what is fiction! this assignment, is the self learning, reflection and awakening, that his bog life however long or short in the future, could be different, if he consciously choses that path.

Down to the Wire (Nick Stone, book 20) by Andy McNab

Nick is as down to earth and resourceful as ever, but with a serious moral conscience that he’s never shown before. But there are deadly complications - not least that Nick soon discovers himself at the heart of a chilling cyber conspiracy that threatens war with Russia and the very existence of the Western alliance . Published in 1997, Remote Control was hailed as the most authentic thriller ever written and has sold over half a million copies in the UK. The central character in all the books is Nick Stone, a tough ex-SAS operative working as a 'K' on deniable operations for British Intelligence.

Biography: From the day he was found in a carrier bag on the steps of Guy's Hospital in London, Andy McNab has led an extraordinary life. Nick soon discovers himself at the heart of a chilling cyber conspiracy that threatens war with Russia and the very existence of the Western alliance and following a shock diagnosis his body is failing fast. While some action is a word perfect repeat of previous methods of hand to hand combat, it both feels familiar in an 'old friend ' way and is quite a likely scenario for a desperate exSAS operative to revert to what has worked before.

Down to the Wire by Andy McNab | Goodreads

Awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM) during his military career, McNab was the British Army's most highly decorated serving soldier when he finally left the SAS. Its the last in the Nick Stone series and AM has written it like that too, almost as if he couldnt be bothered to think up a decent enough plot line to pension Nick off. Some good action and supense, and narrator Paul Thornley is always so convincing as the voice of Nick Stone, in fact Mr McNab should also sound like Mr Thornley! But this comes over as a mess, when Stone thinks about himself, there is no mention of the family and money we have seen in the previous books.Andy McNab clearly wants to move on from Stone and focus on his new Shadow State series (I’ve read the first one, it’s not great) and his interest in the cyber world. Tasked with rescuing the daughter of one of America's richest families from the grips of a dangerous cult, Nick Stone expects his latest mission to be quick and straightforward.
