About this deal

The silicone ear tips are a miss for me, and I’ll just continue to overlook the strange storage case. I started with the classic songs “Always in my Mind” by Elvis Presley, RCA Victor, and “The Look of Love” by Diana Krall, from the album with the same name, Verve. So, internally, IKKO did a very detailed work designing carefully the dynamic driver and using a balance armature driver from one of the most respected manufacturers. The OH10 has a very comfortable shape that fits perfectly in to my average sized ears and doesn’t hurt my ear concha even after long listening periods.

I'm normally not big on super bassy tunings or more extreme v shaped tunings so based on some things I had read about the OH10s I was expecting them to be something I might listen to for fun occasionally or even end up giving away. A little more treble density could improve depth perception but OH10 trades some precision for added smoothness. The Ikko OH10 comes in rectangular box in black colour which features a cardboard sleeve that shows some anime characters such like a girl that is on a obsidian stone (obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass) and the white Ikko Fox which is the mascot of the company. While the Obsidian and the Gems share the same hammered exterior surface, the rest of the design couldn’t differ more from each other. Below them you can spot a brown eco-leather pouch that holds its detachable cable, it also shows the right way of inserting them.I would even go as low as -12dB to totally silence the sibilance and give more room for the subbass in the mix, but I feel that sacrifices way too much. I have to say once again that nothing is missing, and everything you find in the box, from the earpieces, to the cable, the eartips, the leather case, even the outer box, are all of extremely high quality that truly impresses.

The subbass region is one of the main attractions of the Ikko OH10 that I think is pretty well tuned and entertaining without to sound too overpowered. The OH10 box sports a cardboard sleeve with IKKO’s waifu character on the front and a list of some of the features on the back. The small size, combined with the lightweight cable make these some of the most comfortable IEMs I’ve tried, and remind me of my ancient tiny Shure IEMs.I'm just glad I saw them going for cheap and decided to grab them just for funsies because it never would have occured to me to try them otherwise. Rather, the overall tonal balance edges more towards thin and airy, which is kinda cool considering The Ikko OH10 shows more subbass depth, rumble and extension compared to the Brainwavz B400, which shows a noticeable roll-off in this area. I therefore think that it is quite appropriate to review both of them at the same time and see the similarities and differences between them.

They’re producing high-quality and unique IEMs that don’t deserve to get lost in the ocean of bland alternatives. On the top of the main box is the Ikko branding in gold colour, while on the right side from where you open the box is a golden emblem where is written IKKO DESING. Their rep noticed my appreciation for the design of the Varmilo VA87M and inquired about my interest in another brand they manage. They didn’t try to reinvent the wheel here but opted instead to make incremental improvements in some key areas, especially technical performance.
