This method to use your blending solution to mix colors is really useful to be able to create a seamless blend once you’ve already laid down your ink on the surface you’re working with. We’ll share our project with you when we get it finished but for now we’re sharing all the fun alcohol ink projects that we’ve been studying to learn more about it. To protect your artwork, you will need to use a UV light sealer as alcohol inks are very light sensitive and will likely fade over time if not protected.In terms of blend-ability, the alcohol markers will obviously win as they have an extreme blending ability. Each time you add more blending solution, the tone of the ink will lighten, allowing you to swipe a gradient over your sheet. It's a lot like working with watercolours, the blending solution acts like the water, making the inks appear lighter in colour.

This may be a little too advanced for our first project but it's certainly one that we're going to try!The glossy finish and zero-absorbance of both glass and ceramic allows the inks to form a layer of brilliant colour. As the inks are alcohol based they evaporate much quicker, so the paint dries in only a few minutes. You can mix colors in a palette or on your page and blending solution can make the whole process just that much easier. For metallics, be sure to shake the bottle well before using to ensure that the product is mixed properly. If you’re cleaning with a cotton swab or a rag, firmly put it over the top of the bottle of rubbing alcohol and turn the bottle over.
