About this deal

Besides, the way Pitcher unfurls the plot is as interesting as the plot itself (which creaks a tiny bit, to be honest). Threat of immediate assault/force as justification of accidental manslaughter DOESN'T COUNT as justice.

And for the record (aside from its strange title), I chose Ketchup Clouds because of its cover (haha can't help it) and its interesting synopsis that got me curious all along. Another side effect of the GIANT AWFUL SECRET: so that we don't know who is dead, she can't talk to anyone who is still around other than her family.

As I have said, it draws you in straight away and doesn't let go until you are finally given some answers. Ketchup Clouds is a novel about love, loss, and guilt, as well as how we can put our actions into action. Mum and Dad are constantly bickering, about money, about jobs, about Grandpa, it seems to Zoe that they argue about everything these days. I really did have a soft spot for them and all of the messed up things they did and the ways they kept hurting each other.

Zoe can’t understand why her parents argue so much but slowly comes to realize it has something to do with Jane begrudging Simon’s ill father. With an obvious understanding of the adolescent heart and a gift for natural dialogue, Pitcher conveys Zoe’s yearning to be an adult and how it feels to fall in love for the first time … [She] successfully captures the real complexity and overblown drama of being an adolescent, and she certainly brought me back to memories I thought I had long since forgotten. I was very excited to receive a pre-publication copy of her second novel Ketchup Clouds which will be published by Indigo (an imprint of Orion) at the end of the year. She was looking for a way to escape the monotony of her everyday life and the Ketchup Clouds seemed like the perfect place to do it.Her first book, MY SISTER LIVES ON THE MANTELPIECE, won the Branford Boase and a Betty Trask Award in 2012 and KETCHUP CLOUDS won the 2014 Waterstones Children's Prize. I think this was the perfect book for me to read at the right time, which probably supports the 4-star rating. There may be other minor faults not included here, but this description should include all important points and convey accurately the overall conditon of the book(s).

Laura throws a party, during which Zoe spots Aaron with the girl he was with before and angrily leaves. Through her correspondence with him, she discovers a confidant and a person who will help her share her story. She soon finds out that the brown-eyed boy, Aaron, is Max's brother and unbeknown to Max, there are still feelings between them.

The main character can't keep her secret to herself any longer, so she decided to tell her story to someone. Our main character, Zoe, has made a big mistake, committed a crime, and has decided that she can no longer keep it to herself, so she decides to let it all out in a series of letters to Stuart Harris, a murderer on death row.
