About this deal

Pro (when on offer) and the latter offers relevant advantages such as better sharpness and a very fast autofocus. If you’re not afraid to invest a larger sum of money and want the very best lens the system has to offer in this field of view range, then the 17mm 1.

Olympus 12mm f/2 ED M.Zuiko Digital Review

Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 is a high-grade, all-metal, fast wide-angle lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. The primary purpose of wide angle lenses isn’t to yield a beautiful bokeh, so we must be realistic in our expectations about the capabilities of these two lenses. Mu-43 is a fan site and not associated with Olympus, Panasonic, or other manufacturers mentioned on this site. There is a bit of chromatic aberration and flare if you shoot into direct sunlight, but distortion is contained.

Olympus M. Zuiko Digital 12mm f/2 ED CSC Lens Review

I have Olympus ED-M10, I always have been fascinated with the night sky, i have huge telescope and always watch the Nebulas, planets, and stars. in the Distortion field on the Transformations tab has approximately the same effect as the in-camera processing.

Finally we have the size, which might be the only thing that puts you off if you’re looking for a compact solution. Fisheye: another one we haven’t tried is the first fisheye designed for the system (if my memory serves me well). aperture can give you some ethereal / dreamy images when focusing close which you won’t get with many lenses in the Micro Four Thirds system, but the lack of detail is noticeable. Absolute pixel peepers will have some problems with the corners wide open, but as fast wide angle primes go, the 12mm f/2 is actually a very good lens. Another aspect not to be underestimated is the compactness of the Olympus lens, which, being half the size and weight of the Leica equivalent, brings two main advantages: it can be packed inside your camera bag at the last minute and used comfortably on any MFT body.

Olympus M.Zuiko Lens 12mm f2.0 Review | PCMag

This lens has little trouble with lateral chromatic aberration, and we did not encounter any disruptive color bokeh. But without a hood, really strong side light also has a tendency to reduce overall contrast even if it doesn't produce a visible flare pattern. Panasonic opted for compactness and simplicity with the 14mm, and I think that decision will sit well with most M43 users. The lens gets down trodden based on something they read once in a web review of the lens and never seems to get a second look in.If it's on a good deal, you are OK with the size and you need this sort of lens then it's an obvious thing to do. Note that I’ve decided to list the lenses close to 17mm in a separate chapter for reasons I explain further down.
