About this deal

I love the mystery that is still to be solved and the real life events that take place within the story. I loved this book from start to finish - the story is packed with twists and turns, and Rob’s illustrations are full of wit and warmth . His sixth ( Happy Hatchday), seventh ( Give Peas a Chance) and eighth ( Wide Awake) books are the first three in the Dinosaur Juniors series. Louie Stowell, author of Loki: A Bad God's Guide to Being Good Rob Biddulph is one of the finest, most innovative creators we have. Throughout Peanut Jones and the Illustrated City there are lots of wonderful references to art history, both in the names of places and in plot details, as well as in the illustrations themselves.

He lives in London with his wife and three daughters and hasn't given up hope that, maybe, one of them will go to an Arsenal match with him one day.Parents are not usually the focus of books for children – they’re not the ones having the adventures, after all! There is a real joy in this book, one of finding strength and friendships along with the sting of real life and the pain of losing a parent.

The book is also rich in STEM details and I loved how Peanut Jones and the Illustrated City demonstrates that creative thinking is not just confined to art. Her artist father has gone missing, and her own love of drawing is being stifled in her new school and not valued by her mother. Her dad's disappeared, her family isn't what it used to be, and she's stuck in the most boring school ever. Harold and the Purple Crayon meets The Train to Impossible Places for boys and girls of 8+, this dazzling adventure fizzes with magic, danger, friendship and art.Peanut’s had to start a terribly boring new school which only cares about Maths - NOT the right fit for someone who would rather be drawing. Before he became a full-time author/illustrator he was the art director of the Observer Magazine, NME, SKY and Just Seventeen. My son and I have long been fans of Rob Biddulph’s picture books so I was really excited to learn that he had written a middle grade book and delighted to get my hands on an advance copy. His ninth picture book, Show and Tell, was published by HarperCollins in August 2019 and won the 2020 Sheffield Children’s Book Award.

And suddenly, Peanut is transported to the dazzling illustrated city of Chroma, where art and creativity are everywhere and her new friends include a giant talking alligator and a dog made entirely of scribbles.was nominated for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and shortlisted for The People's Book Award and Oscar's Book Prize. His third, Odd Dog Out, was nominated for a total of eight literary prizes, winning the BSC Festival of Literature Picture Book Award and the UKLA Student Shadower’s Vote Book Award.

Suddenly she’s pulled into a world packed with more colour, creativity, excitement and danger than she could ever have imagined.Peanut is so artistic and clever, I love her character the author did a great job at describing her. It has an interesting central mystery and all of the characters are relatable and develop throughout the story. Peanut is aided and accompanied by her new science-loving friend, Rockwell, and her genius younger sibling, Little Bit.
