About this deal

Molding is an incredible way to reinvent a room, and making your own moldings affords the ultimate control over your home’s finishing touches. Rabbeting bits are designed to form an L-shaped shoulder or dado (square groove that runs against the grain) on the edge of a piece of material to form a rabbet joint. The cutting depth (c/d) or pattern width of the bit can be varied by changing out the ball bearing guide for different size bearings.

What I would like to do, though, is (realising that I must bite the bullet for building some jig / sled type thing) build myself a crosscut sled so I bought some 18mm plywood last night, and some wood for the runners and some for the fences.Traditionally, a sacrificial strip of wood is secured to the fence and the fence is then moved against the dado set, covering part of the blade as needed. V-groove bits can engrave designs in flat surfaces like signs or cabinet faces, create shallow grooves that run the length of a column (a style coined ‘fluting’), or even make ridges in panels to produce a beadboard effect. Unlike performing any of these tasks using other tools such as planes or saws, a router with the correct bit will give a 100% accurate and clean cut when used correctly.

These quality rebate (rabbet) router bits produce inset door and drawer faces, cut strong rebated joints, inset cabinet backs and more. Aside from joinery, straight bits can also be used for mortising in door hardware, or for grooving a channel where a decorative inlay can be inserted. As opposed to the rounding-over, the quarter-circle of the cove is an indentation in, instead of an easing of, the 45-degree edge. How to Work With Natural-Edge Slabs Let Mother Nature be your co-designer as you build dazzling projects with wavy edges, bristly burrs, bark inclusions, and other “flaws” that give wood a look of unrefined beauty. While in a class of their own, straight bits are usually used for cutting different types of square-shaped grooves. Both classical and double ogee designs are available, with the latter containing two ogee patterns often separated by a squared transition. The straight bit seems to work, but I am confused about when is a cut too much to do in one pass: the tradeoffs are accuracy, safety, and wear on the machine. Chamfer or bevel cutting bits are also available in a range of different cutting angles including 11.
