About this deal

The 120-metre (390ft) isthmus that joins the limestone to the chalk is made of a 50-metre (160ft) band of Portland limestone, a narrow and compressed band of Cretaceous Wealden clays and sands, and then narrow bands of greensand and sandstone. On concordant coastlines rock types run parallel to the coastline, with weak rock such as shale protected by stronger rock such as limestone. The sea and its waves cause hydraulic action, abrasion, attrition and solution to erode along any lines of weakness on rocks.

A natural arch, natural bridge, or (less commonly) rock arch is a natural landform where an arch has formed with an opening underneath. Just a couple of kilometres east, the spectacular crescent-shaped Lulworth Bay shows what happens when the resistant limestones are removed to expose the softer Cretaceous (Wealden) sediments to the full onslaught of the English Channel. The spectacular beaches and sea arches that sit out in the oceans make it the most beautiful place in the Tasman region of New Zealand.Waves, wave-generated currents, and tides significantly influence the development of depositional landforms. Moreover, as you learned in Module 2, the relatively narrow and steep continental shelves that are characteristic of active tectonic margins do not help to dampen waves that move onshore from the open oceans. This courseware module is offered as part of the Repository of Open and Affordable Materials at Penn State.

These natural processes take thousands of years but present beautiful scenery before us to spend some good time. The boundary between the coast and the shore is known as the coastline; it marks the seaward limit of the coast. People visit this place because of the comprehensive and pleasant ocean view for different small ocean arches. The 500 m (1,640 ft) long footbath commenced in October 2021, following funding from the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) to the tune of €20,000.The Spanish Canary Islands offer some really beautiful sea arches, which were formed due to the erosion of lava caves.
