About this deal

I think this and the slob get under my skin so much because I love cleaning and organizing so this really hits me on a visceral level especially the descriptiveness Aron uses. An imbecilic man is taken advantage of for decades before finally considering an act of sweet revenge.

The Slob by Aron Beauregard - Fantastic Fiction The Slob by Aron Beauregard - Fantastic Fiction

Yes, a tale which is most certainly black and disturbingly grim, but with some great characters, superb illustrations and a totally OTT, but wonderful strong, well crafted, clever and powerful storyline, this little escapade into the world of complete depravity deservedly proved that it will long be remembered and, by some, not easily forgotten. She managed to get away from the terrible scenario, but the memories of her ordeal are permanently imprinted on her body and mind. A highly original, thrilling piece of splatterpunk theatre with it's cleverly constructed, fast flowing narrative that just oozed in brilliance whilst also containing a fine array of wonderfully nefarious supporting cast of creepy characters that just leaves you wanting more and more and more. so that may make me sound a little weird and strange, maybe I am,but I got a real kick from reading this, the gore, torture and the shear horror of it all from start to finish! He emits a Manson-esque charm through the pathetic platform, peddling his works of smut and violence to any goon willing to listen. With Playground, Aron Beauregard transcends himself, delivering a genuinely chilling, uncomfortable novel that will make even the most jaded horror fan squirm. Everything else is an afterthought, with so little effort put into the surrounding plot, language or story elements that it reads like two different authors. He's been writing horror since the 6th grade when his parents discovered a short story titled "Zombie Child" wedged in the back pocket of his dirty acid-washed jeans. In all honesty, I wasn't even aware of the extreme genre - with the exception of Richard Laymon and Bentley Little.

As repulsive as this books is, and as much as I continually question my own morals for reading and enjoying this style of book, the writing is perfection. I can only hope we will hear more from Aron about Harold and where he goes in life, although I expect it will be horrifying. The emotional pull this one had while at the sameyimr being horrendous was addicting but definitely had to choose wisely when I read it during the day. And although Harold is special in his own ways, he's far from the son of Frankenstein, Kong or Godzilla--he's just a filthy little son-of-a-bitch who you can't help but feel a bit bad for just before he does something that will make you want to bathe in hand sanitizer. The story did not go down well with his parents, who, rather than praising his imagination, probably thought he was planning to become a serial killer. Definitely not for the weak of stomach, as this has some vile nastiness soaked into most of the pages. Like Vera, I see the light inside of him and want so badly to pull it to the forefront of his personality and have him progress in a positive manner.
