About this deal

Rounding out Toshiba’s latest UK TV range will be the LK3Cs, a pair of 32- and 43-inch HD resolution TVs aimed predominantly at the second room market. Toggling between Cinema and Game mode is like night and day - it really drives home how strong the soap opera effect is outside of Game mode. The QA5D was one of five new Toshiba televisions unveiled at IFA, with the UF3D, UK4D, UA3D and LK3C making up the remainder of the 2022 range.

I'd still be happier if I could track down exactly what toggles the smoothing off and on, and any advice or experience with that would be great, but for the time being I might just cross my fingers and hope for the best.If the cost of living crisis is causing your purse strings to tighten, Toshiba’s new Quantum Dot TV might be a savvy upgrade for your living room or bedroom.

I don’t know if the larger screen size might be a factor in terms of technology, but it doesn’t look right to me.Dolby Atmos®, an internal subwoofer and our integrated speakers, designed by Onkyo, complete your audio and visual cinematic experience for captivating viewing. Used to determine a user's inclusion in an experiment and the expiry of experiments a user has been included in. There’s also Android TV built-in meaning easy access to those popular streaming services I mentioned earlier as well as things like Chromecast and Google Assistant – the latter via a microphone on the Bluetooth remote.

The UA3D – coming in 43, 50 and 55-inch sizes, is an Android TV offering people who have an existing Google Home set-up, the choice to integrate a Google powered TV into their smart home set up. and has over a decade of experience working as a sound engineer mixing live events, music and theatre. There does seem to be some support for the ALLM switching feature that can switch TVs into their fast-response Game mode whenever a game source is detected, but this doesn’t work as consistently during our tests as it should. ports with ALLM and eARC and Chromecast is on board with voice control courtesy of Google Assistant. Used to ensure user session remains with the same AWS instance to improve performance and stability.

Despite these relatively small niggles, though, the 55QA5D63DB sounds impressive overall for such an affordable TV. And that’s even before you’ve added into the equation the Toshiba 55QA5D63DB’s premium Quantum Dot colour system, expansive high dynamic range support and content-rich Android TV smarts. Dolby Atmos playback enjoys a really large sound stage too, which as well as spreading far to left and right actually seems to have a degree of height to it.

First, its 55-inch screen uses Quantum Dots to make its colours, rather than the more common but less efficient and less effective filters.I haven’t had a proper play with the TV in terms of the interface but there are a lot of good features on paper including Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support – though testing speakers is never an option at a busy trade show. The company was one of the first to bring out affordable large screen OLED TV’s when it released the well-regarded X98 series back in 2018 and it now looks all set to cause a stir once more with its first Quantum Dot TVs. Quantum Dot Technology and Dolby Vision™ HDR, combined with our TRU picture technology provide brighter highlights, darker blacks and over 1 billion colour shades for refined and realistic viewing, whatever you’re watching. Toshiba will also be offering a more entry level Android TV option if you’d prefer that to the Fire TV and Toshiba OS options, in the shape of the UA3Ds. A rung beneath in the range is the UA3D, a cheaper, non Quantum Dot model that also runs Android TV and features much of the same functionality as its big brother, including Dolby Vision and Sound by Onkyo.
