About this deal

Effettivamente, come avevo sentito dire, posso confermare che l'adattatore Sigma lavora benissimo con le ottiche di produzione Canon, mentre, curiosamente, con le Sigma con attacco EF (o alcune di esse) tentenna un po'. I have the Sigma 104/1.4 and four other Sigma DC lenses - all bought for and used on M4/3 camera bodies with Metabones adapters. They work perfectly as do all but one Canon EF lens. The previously mentioned Canon EF 50/1.8 MkII plastic fantastic - which seems a bit of a rogue on all adapters. Basically - to all extents and purposes it is possible to use EF lenses on M4/3 camera bodies without having to research and study lens compatibility lists. M4/3 users can rest assured.

For other "unsupported" lenses, the MC-11 seems to work as well as the LA-EA3 works for most motorized A mount lenses. That means slow CDAF on pre-A7II bodies, and fast PDAF or slow CDAF on newer bodies. It does not attempt to provide any native emulation for non Sigma GV lenses. The Sigma MC-11 is a mount converter that attaches to Sony E-mount cameras (full-frame and APS-C format) to enable Canon EF-mount lenses to be used. Sigma also makes the MC-11 with the Sigma SA-mount to enable Sigma SA lenses to be used on Sony cameras. Follow this link to view the compatible lens list. There are no optics inside the MC-11, it’s designed to extend the flange depth so the Canon lens is the correct distance from the sensor – it extends the optical arrangement by 2.5cm. It also conveys the data that’s required to enable exposure control and autofocusing. This means that the MC-11 should enable the same image quality that you expect from your lenses, but bare in mind that the different sensor will have an impact. Performance The adapter transmits EXIF data to the camera, which is a big plus. You can see the focal length, shutter speed, and working aperture for any shot, just as you can with a native lens. Before updating SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 firmware, please ensure you update SIGMA Optimization Pro to the latest version. The new MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 allows you to use your SIGMA SA mount and SIGMA EOS mount interchangeable lenses with the Sony E-mount camera body. Some older Tamron lenses apparently don't work on it at all. I guess those are victims of incompatible reverse engineering of EF protocols relative to what Sigma has done. I have not found any Canon lenses that didn't work on it, but I haven't tried that many. I do have a Tamron 24-70/2.8 G1, and that works fine on the MC-11.Thanks Alan, a very good explanation. Sigma obviously has all the L-Mount protocols, being part of the L-Mount grouping. It is probably in the box seat to get the best L-EF adapter but at the same time I can and have always espoused the obvious that Sigma only have a charter to make all Sigma EF mount lenses work with their lenses and any other brand EF lenses that work are just a bonus. But the bonus has not been good enough for this L-Mount early adopter of Panasonic camera bodies. And there was nowhere else to turn other than Novoflex whose adapter was originally made for EF-SL and Leica bodies and priced at a level that would make even Metabones blanche. Furthermore the Novoflex adapter has an even worse compatibility than the MC-21. It has become compatible with the SIGMA 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art for SIGMA, that has the latest firmware Ver.1.01.

Using continuous shooting with intervals allowed me to get sharp shots of the bikers exiting the corner. However, until someone does a side-by-side comparison of both adapters and lots of lenses, we're both just conjecturing. I already shared my experience for birds in flight ( read the Red Kites article here) where I got an overall 50% keeper rate with the A7r II and 60% with the a6300, which I consider quite good.
