Aside from the different variations, the V7 itself sits somewhere in-between the Dyson V6 and V8, in both its design and performance characteristics. However, there isn't a brushroll on/off switch for its floorhead, so it can get stuck on plush carpeting and rug tassels.

I wasn’t all that impressed with the regular brush head’s ability to clean right up to the edges, either, especially compared with the Dyson Light Ball Multi Floor, which is far more impressive in this regard.

While you can't change its floorhead's height, it does have two power settings, which can be helpful when dealing with particularly stubborn debris. While it doesn't have a rubber strip that would hold it upright if you were to just lean it against a wall, it does have a rack station with space for two extra tools, which is a nice addition. Speaking of which, some of the toughest jobs a vacuum cleaner needs to tackle are sucking up pet or human hair caught within carpet fibers, and let’s just say the V7 is an excellent sucker here.All Dyson cordless vacuums have powerful, lightweight digital motors which generate powerful suction across all floor types.

It began with the Dyson DC44 in 2009 and, although that model has long since been discontinued, the V7 range continues to impress. Given there’s no more than 30 minutes of battery life, the V7 cannot handle large spaces… unless you’re willing to let it fully recharge and then resume where you left off. In its 'MAX' power setting, it's liable to getting stuck on rugs, making it hard to push around, so it's best to clean carpets in its default 'Powerful' setting.The color scheme on each Dyson model follows what we’ve seen in the company’s other products – while the purple and fuschia combination on some V7 models may not be to everyone’s tastes, the grey, purple and red combos are very pleasing. The wall mount has niches for the standard cleaning heads, meaning everything you need can be stowed in one place.
