About this deal

On the heels of such excitement, anticipation for "Different Class" ran high, and not only does it deliver, it blows away all their previous albums, including the fine "His 'n' Hers". Coming from Cocker, who made secondhand clothes and music glamorous, the song is undeniably affecting and exciting, much like Different Class itself. Different Class (released in Japan as Common People) is the fifth studio album by English rock band Pulp, released on 30 October 1995 by Island Records.

The album was a critical and commercial success, entering the UK Albums Chart at number one and winning the 1996 Mercury Music Prize. When Pulp released Different Class in October 1995, it was at the peak of the Britpop era – less a cultural movement and more a label the music press had slapped on a collection of disparate (though mostly white, guitar-based) British bands infiltrating the charts in the mid-90s. Condition: NEW Brand: Rock Off Officially Licensed - Pulp 'Different Class Logo' T-Shirt printed on 100% cotton garment Neckline: Crew Neck Fit: Regular Fit Sleeve Type: Short Sleeve Material: Cotton. By the time Different Class was released at the end of October 1995, the band, particularly lead singer Jarvis Cocker, were genuine British superstars, with two number two singles and a triumphant last-minute performance at Glastonbury under their belts, as well as one tabloid scandal. The album explores sex and class with Jarvis Cocker's biting, witty lyrics taking a perfect snapshot of mid 90s English suburban and working class life.Island/UMC did a really nice deluxe 25th version of His N' Hers in 2019, white vinyl, Abbey Road mastering, sounded great.

Though he, like his band, wasn’t new at all – how very queer by today’s make-‘em-and-break-‘em standards. We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our site, provide personalised content and advertising, analyse our traffic, and ensure you see more of what you love.Cocker had a friend who used the phrase 'different class' to describe something that was 'in a class of its own'. A million listens would not be enough to get all the humour and dirt and sex that is in "A Different Class. Then, the next month, they headlined the biggest music festival on the planet, filling in for The Stone Roses – whose John Squire had fractured his collarbone – at Glastonbury. Clever songwriting isn’t biased to any gender, and while several of his peers were content to play up their laddishness, Cocker’s peculiar disposition had him turning heads of both sexes. By that summer Britpop had reached – depending on your point of view – either its apex or nadir, when Blur and Oasis were involved in a chart battle that dominated newspapers and made the BBC’s Six O’Clock News.
