About this deal

the writing - i couldn't help but noticed that this book actually needed more dialogues than the description of the events that followed. Every werelord can (or can learn to) transform at will into a Huge animal. The type of animal is determined by the paternal line.

The animal snarled a grin, leaning in towards her and mouthing a single word as it opened its mouth. When arrested, Drew is fed by a jailer and witnesses atrocities commited by the King's Lionguard from his window. When the jailer attempts to question him, he retorts, saying he will only speak to Duke Bergan, who the jailer turns out to be. The Duke reveals himself to be a Werebear and thanks him for saving someone dear to him (Drew assumes this to be Hogan, who seemed to be a respected figure by the Watch). However, they are interrupted by the appearance of Prince Lucas and Vankaskan, who demand Drew to be delivered to Highcliff, where King Leopold resides. Combat Pragmatist: Drew throws sand into Duke Manfred's face while training at the start of Book 2 and gets chastised for it. However, this doesn't stop him throwing hot coal into Djogo's face later, among other things. Djogo and Opal, who had killed Vega and orchestrated his death, respectively. They are still at large. I honestly don't have a bad word to say about this book. It was amazing. Honestly, this will most likely be more of a gush that a review...but hey...it's my blog right?

Eye Scream: A few characters get blinded in one eye. Djogo loses an eye after Drew throws hot coal into his face and Vala loses an eye to Gretchen. Described as a “high-octane thrill ride” this new series follows a family Tyrannosaurus dealing with life in the prehistoric wilderness. It’s based on animated shorts from Joel Veitch. Drew, Hector and some of the other villagers find the tribe responsible, but the negotiation turns into a fight and the shaman is killed by Drew in his wolf form. Hector uses his necromancy magic to revive the shaman's corpse and extorts information out of him. They discover that Gretchen is being offered as a human sacrifice to Vala, the Wyrm Goddess.

Heinous Hyena: Lady Hayfa the Werehyena, who has fought against King Faisal for control of Omir for years. It was heartbreaking to witness Drew being forced to leave the people he loves, his family. He always grasped that they were keeping him in the dark- there was more than what met the eye. In Drew’s perspective, it was obvious that he was different from everybody else. At the time he discovered his true nature and what he really was he knew that his destiny was set. Decadent Court: What we see of Leopold's allies in court seems to fit the bill. Their actions at a banquet in the first book are not described charitably. The plot of the story is to show that as long as you have a common goal, anyone can be the most likely of partners. In the story, Drew, Taboo, Drake and Behemoth, along with Krieg all teamed up to kill the leader of a gladiator ring that they were apart of. They then decided to team up together to go against the cat lords to regain all the land that was taken away while they were gone. No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Vanmorten dishes one out to Drew at the end of book one when Drew is too exhausted to change into a wolf.

serious and mature character. This event is Drew witnessing his mom die in front of him. An interesting thing that I learned in this story was that sometimes its okay to give up, especially when your surrounded by a vicious horde of werewolves. The book does not really say what the time or place that it takes place in. If I had to guess what time period it was taking place in, I would have to say that it would be in the Golden Age of Piracy. I say this because the story talks about being on pirate ships. The place is in a totally different world. I say this because it is talking about continents that do not and never did exist. May I just say, I am in love with this world. The various Werelords, all the different ‘species’. The change, the characters: everything was so vivid. I love the twist Jobling has put on the lycanthropy mythology: silver, shifting… It was all just so cool! I loved learning all about the Therianthropes, and meeting the various other characters. I was over the moon to see Sirens as well – again, I adore the twist! But: it got better: Weremammoths. So cool, right?! I loved this book, the action, the fantasy, the characters. And by the end, I was left going crazy for more. I’ve always loved illustrated prose/literature since I was a kid,” said artist Francesco Francavilla. “I own lots of old classics illustrated by Gustave Dore’ (The Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost) and new classics illustrated by Gorey (Dracula) and Bernie Wrightson (Silver Bullet), so to have a chance to dip my artistic toes in this field was a bit of a dream come true. It also helps that Ben’s work is SO GOOD and so inspiring. I’m very happy with this collaboration and it definitely left me wanting to do more of these illustrated novellas.”Upon the day of departure however, the Lionguard appear (two weeks earlier than expected: they were intended to be Gretchen's escort to her wedding), called for by Vincent. When Huth tries to resist the group, he is killed by Captain Brutus ' silver sword. When Brutus advances on Drew however, the boy takes Gretchen hostage and escapes by the Redwine river with Hector. In this new book we are granted the opportunity to 'meet' a whole host of new Werecreatures in this book, and Curtis Jobling maximises this treat for his readers by taking his characters off to different places, just as Tolkien did in The Lord of the Rings. In The Fellowship of the Ring we are introduced to the lead characters, and then in The Two Towers Frodo and Sam head off for Mordor, whilst Pip and Merry are taken in a dfifferent direction by the Orcs. These diverging story strands enabled Tolkien to show us more of the incredible world he created, and Curtis uses a smiliar device in this book. Therefore, we get to meet a plethora of new characters on Scoria, where the enslaved Drew is forced to become a gladiator; and we also get to see other parts of Lyssia and its seven realms, and its inhabitants, as Drew and his party head out across the ocean. Mr Jobling seems to manage all of these new additions to his story with consummate ease. Neotext has announced a new novella from comics titans Benjamin Percy and Francesco Francavilla called Wereworld. Out digitally September 14, the new illustrated novella is about a year of increasing terror in a small Minnesota town. Stay tuned to the AIPT Comics podcast this Sunday as we chat with Percy about Wereworld. Fragile Speedster: Fitting for a cheetah, Lord Chollo is old and fragile-looking, but incredibly fast and agile, capable of taking down another werelord with ease if given the chance. I was never really interested in Werewolves, they seemed pretty dull and unoriginal but these book with their fantastic character and world building creates a new twist on werewolves that is exciting and interesting from beyond down to the core. Not to mention the introduction of other WereSpecies like WereLions and WereRats AWESOME!!! .

Hook Hand: Drew has his hand replaced with a trident blade after losing it. After the blade is rendered useless, he temporarily replaces it with a shield, before leaving the stump bare. In book six it is replaced with the White Fist of Icegarden. Was very close to rating this book 5 stars. This book really hit a great stride within the series. The constant quests feel exciting and comfortable at the same time, and the cast of characters are excellent. I am really enjoying what a rich world Jobling has developed and really find myself rooting for our hero. This series reads like a kids version of Game of Thrones, with some Pendragon sprinkled in- an excellent rec for any teen. The villains are evil. This is more of a PG-15 read for all its violence, and it's not too depressing, but can be. It's war, and people will die. To be honest, I bought this book on a whim; I thought it was going to be some typical Middle Grade Fantasy series that I've read a bajillion times before--nothing too special. After running Drew through with his sword, the most extraordinary thing happened. Drew not only managed to keep his footing, but he was able to flee.
