About this deal

Years ago, toy prototypes relied on wax-modeled figures and wooden carvings for larger ships and vehicles. Now, those intricate sculpts are rendered with special software and computer generation, then 3D printed. Return of The Jedi was initially criticized for their over abundance of aliens due to merchandising potential. With the film’s explosive financial success, Kenner toys produced over 79 action figures for the 1983 film. In addition they released new vehicles like the B Wing and even the very large Imperial Shuttle. They also re-released previously made favorites like the X wing and the Millennium Falcon.

Last up, the figure that drew everyone’s eyes to the set, Max Rebo, our nalargon playing buddy (again, SWG… I always had an entertainer character of some sort when I played that game). A male Twi'lek, Bib Fortuna hailed from Ryloth, the homeworld of his species. [1] Fortuna was born to a prominent clan that had close ties to the criminal underworld, though his more politically minded cousin Beezer resented his family's associations. [6] Before coming into the service of Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure, Fortuna worked as a slave trader, one who was focused on members of his own species. He became rich from selling his fellow Twi'leks into slavery. [9] At some point, Fortuna came into Jabba's service and competed against Bidlo Kwerve to become the Hutt's majordomo. [10] Fortuna also gave Jabba his pet rancor [11] Pateesa [12] as a birthday present. [11] Ultimately, Fortuna succeeded and claimed the job whereas Kwerve ended up as an early victim of the rancor. [10] Soon after, Crimson Dawn sent invitations to many of the major crime lords in the galaxy, including Jabba. Revealing that they held Solo in their possession, they bid the invitees to travel to Jekara and witness the return of Crimson Dawn. Believing that Fett had cheated him and sold the smuggler to a competitor, Jabba placed a bounty on the hunter's head before departing for Jekara, leaving Fortuna to look over his palace. Unaware that the Hutt had left, Fett stormed through the castle's dusty gates, incinerating two Gamorrean guards and demanding that Fortuna give him answers. After explaining that his master was absent, Fortuna suggested that Fett leave, lest the retinue of thugs and mercenaries that made up Jabba's court turn their weapons on the hunter. Fett reminded the rabble, however, that many of their number would perish in a firefight against him, dying in the meager name of Bib Fortuna. With this in mind, no one fired a shot. [25] Reclining on his throne aboard the Khetanna, Jabba the Hutt gripped his microphone and growled the final death sentence for Luke Skywalker and his friends hovering just above the Sarlacc pit. But moments later, the execution turned into an escape, leaving the mighty Jabba dead at Leia’s hand and his opulent sail barge imploding in the sands of the Dune Sea. StarWars.com goes inside Hasbro's plan to make its largest Star Wars product ever -- with help from fans.Where to Look: 7 minutes, 5 seconds — Bib Fortuna greets C-3PO and R2-D2 upon entering Jabba’s palace. After building this and the Republic Gunship at the same time, you really see the gulf in quality between the sets. The RGS is one of the best sets in the LEGO Star Wars line, and a wonderful follow-up to a well-loved set. The Sail Barge doesn’t do much to justify it’s existence or it’s cost.

The size of this thing is incredible,” Dern says. “From a manufacturing/tooling perspective, this is quite an undertaking. The tooling just to create something at this scale, with such an amazing level of detail, is a remarkable achievement." Although largely stripped of valuables by scavenging Jawas, the remnants of the Khetanna near the sarlacc pit were part of Mos Eisley's Skywalker Tour. [4] Parts of the Khetanna were eventually used to line the interior of the Doe See'ybark Bootana restaurant.

Of course, the thing that really draws your eye when you look at this is the absolutely terrible front. The 2006 Sail barge had a very inventive way of making the sailbarge, which effectively is an upside down boat look like an upside down boat: they took boat pieces and put them upside down. Again, that cannon, which you can tell ruined so many other things about the set: the front, piece count, look of it closed

For instance, to capture the glamorous vintage-inspired box art showing the barge in full-color glory, 14 Hasbro employees spent 120 hours on the photoshoot, which included bringing in 900 pounds of sand to recreate the Dune Sea and the creation of one custom, posable Sarlacc. Jabba’s area has tiles under it now. To be honest, I don’t know if there were colored tiles under him in the movie… my eye was typically fixed on Carrie Fisher in that gold bikini. We do get some dark green 2×2 tiles, so there is that. Mostly, though, it’s empty space.

Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca to between around 8 BBY and 2 BBY. Of course, there was a reason that LEGO made the choice to go with this style instead of the boat hulls from the old one… There’s really not a lot I can say about this character. While I love to see yet another obscure character get made, and they did a good job on his head, the rest of him is a little bit… blue (dark azure, technically). I get that the character is totally naked and blue, I would have liked to see a bit of detail on the torso or legs.
