About this deal

Although I must admit I gravitate towards the Clinique Pop Blushes more (because I’m a fan of the dewy skin look), this one deserves as much love because the overall quality and longevity is just remarkable. I lean more towards the Clinique blushes because they have more of a “glow” to it, but these blushes were not created to have as much shimmer particles as the Clinique anyway, so I can’t complain.

The texture is incredibly soft, finely-milled, and silky, so it blends beautifully on the skin. Though it seems a little powdery in the pan (excess builds up in the corners), it doesn’t look powdery or cakey on the skin. In fact, the powder almost melts against the skin, because it looks natural and smooth; very much that “seamless, soft-focus” look Hourglass was after. This particular shade has a soft sheen that gives skin a glowing, healthy finish but doesn’t emphasize pores or imperfections. It had good color payoff that was both buildable and blendable. Mood Exposure wore as well as the other shades–eight full hours before there were signs of fading along the edges. The quality seems comparable across the board from the five (of six) I’ve tried and tested now.If blush and highlighter had a baby, this would be it. Rather than coating your cheeks in a a single shade, Hourglass has combined a blush with the brand's iconic Ambient Lighting Powder to create a multidimensional product that doesn’t sit flat or heavy on the skin, is lightweight, and perks up dull complexions. I love that this doesn’t go overboard in terms of highlighting—no one wants a disco ball cheek—but leaves just enough of a subtle shimmer to boost radiance. The powder is buildable and has a velvety feel that I’d gladly reapply. I think my beef with the formula was I expected something glow-y from the formula and that isn’t exactly what you get. These are a seamless formula that much is true. Although the texture is fairly powdery for a baked formula they still have a very soft, finely milled texture that blends beautifully on cheeks. The texture of the blush is very soft, silky, and smooth. Color excels at looking very natural and pretty yet not really producing any of the natural, soft focused light you might experience by using the Ambient Lighting Powder alone. Dim Infusion / Mood Exposure: Mica, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Boron Nitride, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Octyldodecanol, Benzoic Acid, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Dehydroacetic Acid, Diamond Powder, Dimethicone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Laureth-7, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylamide, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Potassium Sorbate, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Trimethylsiloxysilicate. May Contain (+/-): Red 7 Lake (Ci 15850), Yellow 5 Lake (Ci 19140), Carmine (Ci 75470), Ultramarines (Ci 77007), Bismuth Oxychloride (Ci 77163), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891) The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette is an EXTREMELY POPULAR palette since you get access to a few different shades of the ambient lighting powders to play with in your makeup routine. We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when

The Hourglass palettes are not a “value” kind of palette–you aren’t getting a ton of product for your money, but you are able to get six products for less than the cost of purchasing six, individual and full-sized products, which is really the upside. If you’re someone who expects to mix between the two finishing powders, then the size of each palette may not be a big deal, but using them alone is a pain point for those who like working with a traditional powder brush. I just find they get over-applied by using smaller brushes and/or take forever to apply.

Other drugstore dupe posts you’ll love: These are certainly worth the hype (although in terms of the luminosity and glow, I much prefer the Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes but they have much less wear time). These blushes were released by Hourglass to correspond with their Ambient Lighting Powders, meaning the blush shades are actually infused with the corresponding Ambient Lighting Powder shades.
