About this deal

Nektas determines that it’s time for a nap, and they leave, but on the way out they go past Nyktos’ office, and Jadis wants to go to him, which they end up doing. They go to court, encounter Attes, and Nyktos kills a man named Dyses, who stared at Sera too keenly. He has his issues and worries, and it’s not all about Sera, there are also moments about him and his problems, and he has his character arc. He also agrees to take her into Lasania to visit her step-sister Ezra, and to visit the Pools of Divanash–she will go with Nektas.

Jennifer has won numerous awards, including the 2013 Reviewers Choice Award for Wait for You, the 2015 Editor’s Pick for Fall With Me, and the 2014/2015 Moerser-Jugendbuch- Jury award for Obsidian. I, too, struggle with the idea of having to wait until the next book comes out and I want to read all of them in one go so it’s a debate of waiting vs reading, but ultimately I want to read the next one in the series as they come out.

Nyktos finds her getting swallowed by roots and tells her to breathe, but it doesn’t stop her, so he finally compells her to sleep.

The scene where she tries to get him to explain and frustratingly enough he doesn’t, and you wonder WHY? I’d finally had a taste of being something other than a means to an end, a weapon to be used and then discarded. He seemed to always know what to say, or how to act to make her question herself or to reassure her about her worth and importance. When Nyktos asks her opinion on the plan, Sera hopes that it works, but then she realizes that she can now hope too–that maybe she could have a future without an early death, and she felt a bit selfish for it because it would mean more attacks until the plan was carried out in full. They enter the rooms, and come face to face with Orphine, the draken, who tells them that she has heard their entire conversation and that she is there to protect Sera from anyone who poses a threat, making a remark that it’s unfortunately not anyone who is a threat to Nyktos. It started so well with action, angsty moments, and intense conversations, and it ended with a bang and a cliffhanger, but in between, it was mostly Sera and Nyktos beating around the bush. Kolis finally shows up, and they talk about the prophecy–he has knowledge of it too, and tells Sera that they often come in threes. Good old miscommunication will do that, but after a while, it became repetitive, and Sera’s inner monologues about her feelings were always the same.

She also finds out that she’s been asleep for three days, and then mostly spends a while talking to Bele about Veses and Nyktos. It will be the most angsty and sad scene if it happens like this, but it also would be such a powerful moment. She also realizes that Nyktos will not let her leave or let her get out of his sight, so she does the one thing she’d never done before–runs. And as Sera begins to realize that she wants to be more than a Consort in name only, the danger surrounding them intensifies.

They talk more about Kolis, Nyktos’ goodness and Sera not being a good person–all that she did at the hands of her parents. Nyktos reveals that a few of his close guards know what the plan is, what is inside her–more than one ember–and that she is in the Culling (because they’ve seen the signs), but they do not know that she has Sotoria’s souls. October is exiting stage left, and November is entering stage right leaving us ready to cozy up with some amazing books this month. Jadis and Reaver are also so adorable – though Reaver would probably hate that description – but I love that they had slightly bigger roles in this book. Nyktos shows up and takes Veses down, before having his men take her to the tombs–ones she would not be able to get out of.Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. I had high hopes for ALITF because I immediately fell in love with Sera and Nyktos in ASITE and devoured that book in one sitting. She goes to the coronation in a horse drawn carriage, and the coronation goes without a hitch–beautiful, and easy. Another thing we find out right before shit hits the fan is that Sera intended to k*ll herself when she took a lot of the sleep aid before she meets Ash in book 1.
